Is there cell phone service on the land, and am I allowed to keep my phone on (not during sessions or activities)? Yes, there is phone service, and you can definitely use your phone while not in ceremony. We do encourage you to take the retreat time to take space from electronics.

What is the land like, and do we have free time to hike around? Is it jungle or rainforest? We are in the high part of the mountain in a valley. You are free to walk and hike around. There is a river close by in the village; we will show you how to get to it. We will also take a few hikes to sacred places in the valley.

What is the lodging like? Is it individual, in a hut, or is it in a shared space? Is there a price difference in where you stay? The lodging is private. We have a few private rooms with private bathrooms, available on a first-come, first-served basis; otherwise, you'll have a private bedroom and a shared bathroom. What is the medical procedure if someone has a medical emergency? We have a doctor on call for any medical emergency. The medical screening and the experience with this work have kept us safe from medical emergencies in the ceremony container.

What is the rescheduling/cancellation policy after you've paid? How soon do I need to pay to reserve a spot if I'm interested? A non-refundable deposit of USD $1,000 is required to reserve your place. The remaining balance is due two weeks before the retreat begins. If you cannot attend, you may transfer your payment once to another Shanayoy retreat within 24 months, provided you notify us at least 30 days before your scheduled arrival. Transfers are subject to availability. If Shanayoy cancels the retreat, you may choose either a full refund of all payments made to Shanayoy or transfer the full amount to a future retreat. We cannot reimburse airfare or other personal travel expenses, so we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

How many people participate in the retreats? We have only 14 spots available for each retreat, and for integration activities and ceremonies, community members and the support team may join.
Why Should I Consider Shanayoy for Working With Plant Medicine?
Shanayoy retreats are personalized experiences for up to 14 people per retreat (Other local people from the indigenous community will take part in the medicine ceremonies). This is an excellent opportunity to have a unique, safe, and private experience.
These are led by the renowned Taita Juan Bautista, a traditional healer recognized by UNIYAC (the organization of Yageseros of the Amazon), with more than 40 years of experience and a lineage of healers.
The work and care team includes Erika Salazar, a medicine woman with 20 years of experience working with medicinal plants and the Yage-Ayahuasca ceremony, a minister in the USA who will offer full translation during the retreat. Our main purpose is health; we have the physical tools and the experience to ensure the well-being of all participants.
